The Ribblehead Viaduct
Ribblehead Viaduct
1999  The Ribblehead viaduct on the Settle to Carlisle line is one of several enormous Victorian  engineering feats, achieved at great human cost. In this area there were no less than three substantial shanty towns housing several thousand workers. Today almost no traces remain, except the railway and the graves at Chapel-le-Dale church.
