January 1999 The Kentmere valley is one of several areas in the southeast
and eastern Lake District where you may see the semi-wild shaggy lake district
ponies. Some of these ponies are quite timid - some are overbearingly friendly,
as was the one bearing down on the photographer. I was born and bred in
the Lake District, but I still don't know whether some of them are
completely wild!
