January 2000 Starting from Coniston we walked to the right of the
Coppermines valley in glorious sunshine. We passed the Red Dell workings
and crossed over to Levers Water, where the sky was dark and the wind was
cold. A cloud of mist rolled up from the lake, finally engulfing us in
Coppermines valley. Coppermines valley in the Coniston valley is either
an important part of our industrial heritage or a festival of eyesores,
depending on who you talk to. In this picture it looks rather good.
