March 2000 From Coniston to the Walna Scar Road, the Coppermines
valley, a look at the Pudding Stone and the old slate workings, up to Coniston
Old Man, Brim Fell, Swirl How, Great Carrs, Grey Friar, Swirl How again,
and down to Levers Water and back through the Coppermines Valley to Coniston.
Looking north-west from the summit of Swirl How is the craggy front of
Great Carrs, little more than a stroll away (as long as you go left!).
Beyond are the Scafells and the Langdale Pikes.
