June 2000 Instead of walking to Great Carrs from Little Langdale,
we turned back from cloud into a brilliant evening in Tilberthwaite. With
Holme Fell as a backdrop this must be one of the prettiest tarns in the
Lake District - and it isn't even natural! It's a disused reservoir associated
with the (ugly to some) slate workings below. A place of tranquility
and an Antipodean voice talking about "Barbies". What would a grown man
want a doll for in a place like this?
