Beck is just up the river from Caton. Here the river is slow and majestic,
except when in flood when it is fast and majestic! There is a popular picnic
area close by with an excellent mobile snacl bar, and you can also cycle
from here to Glasson Dock on the far side of Lancaster. The cycleway is
almost entirely along closed railway lines, which guarantee the absence
of painfully steep sections.
