8th July 2001 - Between Poncebos and Cain in the Picos de Europa is the most spectacular part of the Cares Gorge, known as the Garganta del Cares.
There is an excellent track from end to end, the result of a visionary hydroelectric scheme which takes water from Cain to Camarmena above Poncebos where it pours down huge pipes to the power station.
This photo shows the track cut out of the rock face on the 14 mile there and back walk.
