Pigs near Montejaque,  Andalucia, Spain
5th May 2002 In the Sierra de Grazalema pigs are allowed to run "wild" on the large farms, grazing and overturing stones (as shown here) for tasty little things beneath. They also eat lots of acorns, which is said to give the bacon an exceptionally good flavour (I can't say - I'm a vegetarian!). Above all the impression you get watching these animals is of happiness and freedom. I wish more of our British pigs were treated like this.
This paricular group was in a very thinly populated area between the Sierra de Montalate and the Mojon Alto, approached from Montejaque.
