June 2000 Ben Chonzie (931 m, 3056 ft NN 773308) is more of a big
green hill than a mountain. The route we took from Invergeldie (about 12
km there and back and 730 m, 2400 ft of ascent) in Glen Lednock involves
nothing more difficult than walking up a very clear track until the short
path to the summit plateau. The only problem is finding the actual highest
point, which is about 1 km NE of the point at which you think you've reached
it. There are, of course wonderful long distance views in every direction
- here looking northwest. Views apart - this is a walk you can do in an
afternoon or long summer evening - probably less than 4 hours.
