April 2001 Not fell walking on a grand scale, but not bad at all
when it's just about impossible to climb anything in the Lake District
due to Foot and Mouth. We stayed overnight at the excellent (for musicians)
Taybank Hotel in Dunkeld run by the the Scottish folk singer Dougie Maclean
(Caledonia fame) and his wife Jenny. After an evening of drinking, playing
and talking music, finishing at 3.25 am we did, the following day, a roughly
5 mile walk from Dinkeld through Birnam Woods (of MacBeth fame) over
King's Seat. There were restrictions in this area with meant that
some paths remained closed, but this was our first UK climb for months!
Wonderful!!
