September 2002 - Having climbed up from the popular waterfall Cautley Spout
in the Howgill Fells you quickly feel like you are the only people in the
entire Howgills. And the suddenly, where it says "Sheepfold" on the map,
there is a message from an alien civilization. Or mybe not. These artistic
creations are hidden away throughout the Lake District and neighbouring
Dales, and are more than a little cntroversal. I like them. I love the
way that he uses completely natural material and dry stone walling to produce
interesting objects in harmony with their surroundings. But others disagree
strongly with the "harmony" aspect!
