Pathless rough ascent from Torver High Common - EXPERIENCED WALKERS ONLY

SD 284942 Torver At Junction of A593 & A5084 take track on right hand side of pub. Follow track through fields, straight ahead at SD282944, and then left round a house through woods to open moor.  Follow waymark over stepping stones in bog. After wall turn left on faint path (SW) for the summit of Torver High Common ("Banks" on map) 

SD 269941 Torver High Common ("Banks") Head North and descend into the deep valley in front of Bleaberry Haws. There is a large dyke (unknown antiquity) which you can follow down then up Bleaberry Haws turning left on the shoulder to summit (SD 266946). From summit pick your way NW carefully over rough ground and past crags to White Maiden (SD 254957). About half way up stone wall on left can be followed to summit. Head NNW on easy level ground for highest point of Walna Scar.

SD 258963 Walna Scar Descend NE to Walna Scar Road and follow right descending to more level ground, and crossing Cove Bridge. At SD 274964 turn right to Torver. Pass through slate quarries following "Torver" sign right at end. Follow clear mine track then minor road past Scar Head farm to A593, where you turn right for the short walk into Torver.
