THE CONISTON FELLS  - Walk 12
The paths are clear throughout although it is easy to lose the way in mist, particularly near Swirl How and Wetherlam. There is substantial ascent
SD 303976 Coniston to the "Slate Zone" From the Coniston TIC car park turn left pass the church, right on the A593 and immediately left, past the Brewery (left) and museum (right). Follow the road and then track to Miners Bridge (SD 294981). Cross the bridge, turn right, and follow the path uphill to the track junction at SD  284981

SD 284981 Through the slate quarries Carry straight on, ignoring left track (Little Arrow Moor) and right (Pudding Stone) through the considerable slate workings. 

SD 277981 Past Low Water  Follow track uphill, past the beautiful Low Water, and on steeply to the summit. Just before the summit look down to Low Water. 

SD 273977 Old Man to Swirl How  Follow clear track NW swinging north over Brim Fell. Good views west of Seathwaite Tarn. Descend then climb Great How Crags with good views of Levers Water (east) and on to Swirl How summit

NY 273006 Swirl How to Wetherlam and Coniston Descend east over Prison Band to Swirl Hawse. Follow path up to Wetherlam summit (NY 288012). Follow path south for 100 m taking left fork SSE direction towards Coniston. Follow path down to Coppermines valley and follow track past Miners Bridge into Coniston.
