THE CONISTON FELLS  - Walk 8
The paths around the lake and on Torver High Common are clear, but in mist, especially on the High Common, route finding can be difficult so take a map and compass.
SD 303976 Coniston to Lakeshore Leave the Coniston TIC car park, turn left past the church and left at the A593 heading south. Take well made Cumbria Way path on left at SD 301972 and follow past Coniston Old Hall and campsite to Coniston lakeshore. After the "Torver Commons" sign turn left back to the shore rather than entering the wood.

SD 303953 Lakeshore to Torver Close to Coniston Launch jetty follow Torver footpath sign on rising track through woods to fields and past Brackenbarrow farm. Cross minor road then take field path to A593 just north of Torver village.

SD 286945 Torver to Coniston Turn left on A593 for about 100 m then turn right into lane passing Scarr Head farm and campsite then left and then sharp right. Follow walled track through Bannishead Quarry to meet the Walna Scar road at SD 274964. Turn right and follow clear Walna Scar road west to Coniston, past Boo Tarn (SD 283968) down minor road at SD 289971 down steep hill to meet A593 at foot. Turn left for Coniston village centre.
