Little Langdale to Slater Bridge Starting at the Three Shires Inn follow
road west about 250 m and follow path left to Slater Bridge.
NY 312030 Slater Bridge to Greenburn Follow path through field and turn right on track. Take left track at NY 306027. Follow track to Greenburn Mines (disused copper). Excellent Langdale Pikes views on way. NY 292023 Greenburn to High End After gate turn right at NY 292023 over new footbridge for path to Wet Side Edge. Or visit mines and traverse north valley side to join path on High End (tiring and steep). NY 281024 High End to Swirl How Follow path up Wet Side edge (clear and cairn-marked) to Little Carrs then Great Carrs. There are big and dangerous cliffs out of sight to east of summit. Follow path south turning east to Swirl How NY 273006 Swirl How to Slater Bridge Take track east from summit down Prison Band to Swirl Hawse. Turn left (north) and descend along faint track into Greenburn Valley. Path vanishes. Work your way down the valley bottom (avoiding small crags) to Greenburn mines then to Slater Bridge. NY 312030 Slater Bridge to Little Langdale Either return by Slater Bridge or carry on east along pleasant track to footbridge over River Brathay at NY 316028. Cross Bridge and follow lane to Little Langdale |
