THE CONISTON FELLS  - Walk 9
Paths vary from clear to non-existent, particularly on the National Park open access area around Bleaberry Haws. For details of the many sites on this walk please refer to the Coniston Fells CD-ROM.
SD 303976 Coniston to Walna Scar Road From Tourist Information Centre head past the church to the main road, turn left, and then right up a hill until the road becomes steep and narrow, signposted "Old Man, Walna Scar, Seathwaite". Follow this road until to a gate onto open moorland, where the road becomes a track (SD 289971).

SD 289971 Walna Scar Road and Little Arrow Moor. Follow the Walna Scar road south west to Boo Tarn (can be confused with a bog!) at SD 282968. Can detour to enclosure (see photo) at SD 284967

SD 282968 Boo Tarn to Ash Gill Beck Follow track and turn left (south) at SD 276964. Just after meeting the path from Torver turn right (SW) to cross Torver Beck at old ford (still visible on SW side) at SD 275962. Follow path SW with sheepfold and wall on left to Ashgill Quarry (disused) at SD 269953. 

SD 269953 Ash Gill Quarry to Bleaberry Haws Continue SW (no path) aiming for Seal Gill at SD 264947. Can be boggy. Turn left for Bleaberry Haws, summit at SD 266946. There is an ancient summit cairn, and a small stone circle at SD 263945. Return by same route looking for burial mound at SD 266949, huge dyke running from about SD 265948 to Banks on Torver High Common, and enclosure (difficult to see) at SD267950.
