THE CONISTON FELLS WALK 13
The Cumbria Way path is clear, but just about everywhere else isn't. Good map reading needed in several parts and very confusing in mist.
SD 288927 Sunny Bank. NB: Start from gate on west side of A5084 opposite Torver Commons entrance. Follow path over bridge SW.  Turn right on faint path at SD 282924 to attractive disused reservoir. Turn left along reservoir shore and head SW over small hill to Grey Stone at SD 277922 in area of many ancient cairns.

SD 277922 Grey Stone Follow track to right (west) of stone and fork right over small rise to shallow valley. Follow faint track SW then on improving path to junction at about SD 263913 (Pool Scar). Turn left (SSW) on path to cairned top of Yew Bank.

SD 262909 Yew Bank Head east along clear path towards The Beacon. Pass large ancient cairn on left. Path vanishes so orienteer to the Cumbria Way at SD 276906.

SD 276906 Cumbria Way Turn right and follow  path on right (W) of Beacon Tarn then fork right uphill to Wool Knott. Descend SW on the west of the shoulder of Wool Knott. Cross bridleway and head for "Cairn" and "White Borran" at SD 266890. Walk up shallow valley to Blawith Knott. Excellent estuary view.

SD 261883 Blawith Knott From summit cairn follow track ENE. Keep north of farmland, and climb gently towards minor summit  SD 269882. Head north for Wool Knott. Pass to the west of the summit.

SD 272896 Descend to southern end of Beacon Tarn. Follow path north along eastern shore to the summit of the Beacon (SD 277907). Excellent viewpoint. Descend on path north and take first fork left. Path becomes vague. Head NE for lane at SD 283915, turn left along lane to SD 283916. Take signposted path on left NW. 

SD 283916 Stable Harvey  Follow clear path (Cumbria Way) to A5084at SD 288927.
