Pentre Ifan AR42 The spectacular megalithic burial chamber (or cromlech) of Pentre Ifan is possibly the best known prehistoric monument in Wales. The enormous capstone is 5 metres long and is said to be high enough to ride a (short) horse underneath! It was originally covered in a large earth mound, some of which can still be seen.

Close to their source in the Preseli Mountains, Pentre Ifan is built from the same rocks as the famous Stonehenge bluestones.
