HELP!!!
A mystery! This is one of the strangest things I've seen. The grave is perhaps 200 years old, and one of the side centre supports has collapsed, leaving the whole of the top stone weight supported at the ends only. It seems to have sagged in the middle!!!
|
| In case this turned out
to be an optical illusion the stone was photographed along its edge. It
is bent!
The stone is, I think, local Old Red Sandstone. Rocks do bend over geological time. But after only 200 years?? If they did surely the shapes of some of our oldest houses would have changed considerably? If you can explain this please contact me on info@nvmdigital.com. I'll post any replies I get on the web site. Thanks in advance - Dave Mulliogan - NVM Digital - September 2006 |
