Birdseye
Primrose (Primula farinosa)
PRIMROSE FAMILY Birdseye Primrose is one of our prettier diminutive flowers, and is fairly scarce, being a native perennial found only in northern England, in the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales. It is found in damp places, often in limestone areas close to streams. The name arises from the yellowish centre to the pink flower, giving the appearance of a bird's eye. A small cluster of pink flowers betops a single stem arising from a basal rosette of spoon-shaped leaves. Flower: Little pink 5 petalled
flowers 8 - 15 mm across with a central yellow eye.
