Baneberry (Actaea spicata)
BUTTERCUP FAMILY

The Baneberry is a nationally rather rare perennial of limestone areas, particularly of limestone pavements, in Northern England. Its little to big white flowers are in big stalked spikes with conspicuous stamens. The plant is strong smelling and the leaves are large, trifoliate and toothed. The berries are first green and then black, and are VERY POISONOUS.
