BUTTERCUP FAMILY

The Wood Anenome, is a rather dainty adornment to woodland throughout the British Isles except for the Shetlands, Orkneys, and Hebrides. A short native perennial, it has solitary white flowers which sometimes have a pinkish tinge, and flowers typically from March to May.

Flower: Little (1 - 4 cm) white (sometimes pink-tinged) flowers with 6 or 7 petals.
Leaves: 3-lobed, with each lobe itself deeply divided.
Habitat: Woodland, hedgerows, mountain ledges
Height to about 30 cm
Typically flowering: March - May
